Position Overview
AJT Engineering is accepting applications for our Site Services Division for the position of Mechanical Fitter to carry out the removal, disassembly, refurbishment, assembly, installation and commissioning of mechanical components in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out the removal / Installation of mechanical components from the customer’s sites
- Disassembly / assembly of mechanical components as required
- Undertake identification and labelling of all mechanical components for traceability & ID
- Cleaning / protecting mechanical components as required
- Carry out conditional reporting on mechanical components, liaising with the relevant Project Engineer
- Identifying mechanical components requiring replacement and reporting to the relevant Project Engineer
- Carry out dimensional checks and sizing of mechanical components using calibrated equipment
- Carry out refurbishment of mechanical components as required
- Undertake onsite commissioning of mechanical components on customer sites
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment and make appropriate use of PPE at all times
- Work to the requirements of CDM regulations 2015
- Work to HSE ACOPs, customer rules & specifications, company work instructions and route cards at all times
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times
- Carry out any other reasonable task / activities as requested by Manager or delegate
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to learn and adapt to the requirements of the role
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs
- Ability to use calibrated equipment for accurate measurement and dimensional checking
- Possess a high level of focus and attention to detail and accuracy
- Organisational ability and time management skills
- Demonstrated self-starter with high initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Advanced conversational and written English/high level interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
- Able to work away from home as required
- Able to work overtime, periodic weekends and night shift if needed
Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum SVQ level 3 or equivalent or higher in relevant trade qualification
- Preferred (5) years practical experience working in an engineering environment
- Preferred (5) years practical experience of working with hand & power tools
- Preferred experience working on CDM worksites
- Preferred working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 45001
- Preferred Full clean driving licence
Working Hours: This is a full-time role based on 38 hours per week.

Our Site Services Division was established in 2017 and offers a full range of services focussing on Renewables, Hydro Electric and Water Treatment Sectors offering a full range of services from Project Management, design & fabrication of bespoke gates, screens, structures and pipework to mechanical overhaul of hydro power stations across the UK.
Our latest milestone is our new ERS Division (Energy, Renewables and Storage). An energy Transition division to level our extensive knowledge and experience in the hydro and energy sector.
