As a QA/QC Engineer within our Site Services Energy Division, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards across a range of fabrication and site-based projects— supporting key sectors such as renewables, hydro, and energy infrastructure.

Job Purpose

To ensure that all products and processes meet defined quality standards and regulatory requirements throughout the fabrication lifecycle. This role involves the inspection of incoming materials, oversight of welding and fabrication activities, and final inspection before delivery, to ensure product compliance and integrity.

Main Responsibilities

• Creation of all required quality documentation for workshop projects Inc. Route Sheets, Weld Maps etc.
• Inspect raw materials, fabricated components, and final products to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Monitor fabrication processes (welding, cutting, machining, assembly) to detect and resolve quality issues early.
• Undertake the requirements of deputy RWC, inc. maintenance of Weld Store log tag, Welder Qualification logs & Weld Matrix.
• Co-ordinate all non-destructive testing (NDT) requests as required.
• Prepare and maintain inspection records, quality reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action plans (CAPAs)To liaise with department heads on matters relating to quality control throughout the production process.
• Ensure all documentation complies with customer and project requirements.
• To contribute to general improvements in the quality of key activities within the company.
• To co-ordinate all sites calibration equipment to ensure calibration equipment is managed effectively and efficiently.
• Monitor quality performance and compile monthly analytical quality reports for Quality Meetings.
• Conduct internal audits of company operations, providing recommendations for improvement and raising these in Progress Plus.
• Participate in 3^rd party audits of the Integrated Management System.
• Train production staff in quality awareness and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Attend Quality Meetings and present quality reports.
• To assist and undertake any tasks for the HSEQ Manager and Operations Manager.
• Possess computer skills and knowledge of using Microsoft software packages such as Word and Excel.
• Possess a high level of focus and attention to detail and accuracy and strong time management skills.
• Ability to understand, evaluate and apply specifications and standards.
• Demonstrated self-starter with high initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of interpersonal skills and ability to represent the company in a professional manner.
• Proficient in root cause analysis tools (Fishbone/Ishikawa Diagram, 5 whys).
• Understanding of inspection and testing methods, including NDT and dimensional inspection.
• Proficient in interpreting structural drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication details.
• Skilled in using measuring instruments and inspection tools.

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge & Experience

• Have proven experience in a Quality Engineering and Quality Inspection role related to welding (Degree level qualification or equivalent experience).
• Previous experience constructing weld maps.
• CSWIP or working towards.
• Previous experience working within a fabrication industry.
• Internal auditor qualification preferred.
• Preferred working knowledge of Non Destructive Testing documentation requirements.
• Preferred working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
